Position Description

At Wexford our philosophy is that health care should not be considered a luxury for anyone. We simply care for those in need and the corrections environment is our venue. We have an opening for a part time Mental Health PA/NP at our Putnamville Correctional Facility, in Putnamville IN.
POSITION SUMMARY
Serves as the behavioral health authority. Responsible for the delivery of contracted services, personnel, and coordination of psychiatric/behavioral health services and programs. Serves as the liaison between Wexford and the correctional system.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES1. Supports, and provides direction for, the psychiatric and behavioral health care delivery system and coordinates with the other functions within the institution.2. Ensures compliance with ACA/CMA standards and State and correctional system regulations policies and procedures. Upon site visits, meets with Health Service Administrator and facility Warden to assure open communication.3. Meets regularly with the site mental health staff to ensure appropriate provision of services.4. Coordinates training for behavioral health and institutional staff on mental health issues as requested.5. Provides consultation services to institutional staff for mental health issues as requested.6. Assures that all parole evaluations are completed and submitted in a timely manner.7. Develops and maintains a system to provide 24-hour mental health consultation services to institutional staff in situations requiring immediate crisis intervention.8. Follows and enforces security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.9. Adheres to and enforces safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.10. Attends mandatory and optional in-service training.11. Participates in and conducts in-service programs; assists in orientation of new staff.12. Maintains open lines of communication via attendance at staff meeting when possible.13. Attends mandatory in-services on annual basis.14. Provides direct assistance to the Health Services Administrator in administration, planning, management and delivery of behavioral health services at the facility level.15. Contributes to behavioral health program development and evaluation.16. Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.17. Provides documentation in accordance with unit policies and procedures.18. Monitors and insures the appropriate utilization of psychotropic medications.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Licensing: Current license as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant in the State of Indiana. Specialty in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing preferred.
Certification: Current CPR certification
Education: Masters of Science degree in Nursing
Preferred Experience: Knowledge and skills to access diagnose and treat medical and psychiatric disorders; and have knowledge and experience with the special needs and behavior of individuals in forensic and correctional settings.
