Pneumatic Otoscopy DNP Project
Dear Indiana NAPNAP Members,
My name is Rita Becker and I am a DNP Pediatric Nurse Practitioner student at the University of Iowa. I am in my 4th year of the program and currently researching nurse practitioner use of pneumatic otoscopy under the guidance of Dr. Susan Van Cleve. I am requesting your assistance in my endeavor by completing a 5-minute survey on your practice.
The purpose of my project is to explore the use of pneumatic otoscopy in nurse practitioner practice, including attainment of skill, effect on decision-making, attitudes toward pneumatic otoscopy, knowledge of acute otitis media (AOM) and otitis media with effusion (OME) guidelines, and potential barriers to adoption of pneumatic otoscopy. The goal of my project is to increase the body of knowledge regarding the use of pneumatic otoscopy in practice. Results from the project may be helpful for nurse educators, pediatric clinicians, or researchers in regard to the care of children with AOM and OME.
To obtain this data and advance knowledge of advanced nursing practice, I am asking for your assistance in the completion of the survey. Please consider completing my survey if you meet the following criteria: 1) Practice in primary care >50% of time, and 2) Evaluate and treat patients ages 0-21 years of age for acute otitis media and otitis media with effusion.
The survey can be found at: https://uiowa.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dm64agQ4wle1sNL
Again, thank you for your consideration and help in advancing nursing research. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
